An Urgent Message
from the Chair of the Wish Tree Charity
​After 14 years of volunteering and also fulfilling the role of Chair for last 10 years for The Wish Tree Charity (and much deliberation), I have decided it is time for me to step down. This will enable another Flamstead resident to step up with new ideas and renewed enthusiasm to take the Charity forward, but most importantly, continue the good works that were started in 2008 in
supporting Flamstead residents during major surgery, ill health and in bereavement.
The Charity will have to fold if a new Chair is not found and this would be a travesty for this amazing charity which has offered practical help to over 283 residents over the last 16 years. The Charity Constitution stipulates that in order for a charity to operate, 3 positions need to be filled - Chair, Treasurer and Secretary, otherwise it will have to cease to operate. As Chair, you will be involved in working alongside the remaining 4 Trustees, agreeing on how monies are allocated to residents, sourcing/organising practical help for residents, planning fundraising events and meeting approx 6 times a year, as well as ensure the charity meets with all the Charities Commission standards.
