CHARITY UPDATE JULY 2024

July 8th, 2024

Hello Villagers,

We trust this article finds you well and that you are enjoying our ‘Not so sunny Summer!’.

The Wish Tree Charity is very excited to announce that we have recently been awarded a place in the London Marathon 2025 and that villager Henry Biggs will be running the Marathon on behalf of the Charity.  It would be fantastic if, as a village, we could show our support by sponsoring him and helping the Charity raise monies for Flamstead residents.  Good luck with all the training Henry!  More information regarding sponsorship will follow nearer the time.

The Village Show will soon be upon us - 14th Sept 2024 between 2.00-4.00pm for which we will be running the Village Show Tearoom and cake stall again.  We would be very grateful for any donations of cakes (homemade or shop bought) to sell on the day.  Please let us know in advance if you would be able to contribute a cake or two or are available to help out during the afternoon. We would love to hear from you via text to Tracy on 07976 867910.

We continue to be active in the village despite not having many recent fundraising activities.  Currently, we are supporting 7 residents with various types of practical help such as transport, cleaning, gardening, dog walking/pet care and other areas of financial support due to bereavement and/or major illness. In addition, we have offered support to 14 other people since January 2024.  We still heavily rely on ‘word of mouth’ contact and urge you to let us know directly if you are aware of any residents that may benefit from the Charity’s support/contact.  Please visit our website www.thewishtreecharity.co.uk for more information about us or leave a message for Ali Moss on 07799 607320.

Equally, if you are local and offer any of the practical services listed above, we are always looking for paid services to help residents during time of ill health, surgery or bereavement, so please do get in touch.

Finally, we have a vacancy for a Trustee as well as always looking for volunteers to help either at events or to support day to day runnings of the Charity.  If you are interested in getting involved, please do drop us a line at info@thewishtreecharity.co.uk.  We would also be very happy to meet you at one of our meetings or for an informal chat.

Many thanks for taking the time to read our latest update.

Tracy, Ali, Alex, Rosie and Gill.
