CHARITY UPDATE MAY 2022
What an enjoyable and entertaining time we had at our ‘Evening with Matthew Biggs’ on 12th March! Matt was on top form, and his talk was a great mix of anecdotes about his career as a horticulturist and broadcaster, followed by sound advice on a number of gardening questions that the audience had posed. Our raffle was very popular with some excellent prizes donated by supportive local companies; we would again like to thank Ayletts Nurseries, High Elms Tree Surgery, Majestic Trees and The Spotted Dog for their support.
We are delighted to announce that we raised £865 for the charity which will all be going to help local families. Thank you so much to Matthew for giving so freely of his time, to Katharine Hill for her expert facilitation of the talk, and of course to all of you who came and supported the event.
Our next event will be at the Jubilee Fete on the Recreation Ground on June 3rd where we will be serving tea and cake. As it’s amazing just how many cakes can be consumed in an afternoon, we will be asking any willing cake-makers in the village to help us bake! A reminder will be sent out nearer the day.
We would like to give a big welcome to Alex Morris who has joined the charity as a Trustee. Alex has a wealth of experience in fundraising and will be a great addition to the Trustees in a multitude of ways. We are always on the lookout for new committee members, to help us with events and other activities, as well as new Trustees, so if you have any spare time to help with your local charity then we would be delighted to hear from you. Do contact us by email at info@thewishtreecharity.co.uk if you feel you might be able to help or would like to join us.
Finally, if you know of anyone in the parish who might need our help following serious illness, injury, major surgery or bereavement, then please do let us know. Many thanks for your continued support.
